Help fundraise for a hybrid mutual aid and activism centre in Nipaluna/Hobart.
Money raised will not go to specific social or environmental causes, but exclusively to the rent and upkeep of a space where social, environmental, community and aid groups can base their work and collaborate and cross pollinate for a collective good.
As advocates for a free Palestine, we recognise the deep connection of different struggles and causes.
Movements all over the world, both now and in generations before us, learn the importance of a united front : of mutual aid, of cross pollination of ideas, and resources shared among communities and causes. Different struggles, one common goal.
And this connection is felt here quite strongly, with different movements for change sharing common goals, active participants, and a pool of resources.
In the chaos that is 2025, we find ourselves struggling for seemingly endless causes ; against environment destruction and genocide funding, up against an unprecedented cost of living crisis that will only become more difficult as we confront climate catastrophe. We're supporting First Nations self determination and land rights, protecting asylum seekers, providing aid to those who need it most, and trying to build community in a society that continually strives to isolate us at every opportunity. Our most passionate activists are spread across all these fields and more, working from garages, bedrooms, backyards and small offices to realise the change we desperately need as a society.
What stands out to us from our collective years of activism : we are stronger when we stand together. The ability for groups with different goals to come together, to share space, resources, learnings, skills, food and energy - in short , to build a community - is the most important thing for our grassroots networks.
That shared space is also one of the hardest things to find, especially now as the cost of living crisis spirals out of our control.
However, that elusive shared space is the reason we invite you to help built a stronger foundation for activist and mutual aid groups across Lutruwita/Tasmania to continue work that is needed now more than ever
Our vision, that we have been working on together, is a hybrid community activism centre and mutual aid hub, open to anyone who needs a space to try and transform their island home for the better,
In short - a home for activism in Nipaluna/Hobart!
