Webinar: Zionism, Palestine and the Road to Liberation

Where: Online

When: 7:00PM, April 17, 2025

The true expression of collective solidarity in the face of normalisation, repression and obscuring realities

Join us for a conversation with Ronnie Barkan.

This event will commemorate Palestinian Prisoners Day (April 17) which serves as a reminder of the thousands of Palestinian political prisoners and hostages held in the Israeli jails for years and decades. We will also commemorate the martyrdom of the Palestinian activist Bassem Abu Rahma who was murdered by the Israeli army in Bel'een on this particular day during a peaceful demonstration against the occupation and expansion of illegal settlements in the Occupied West Bank.

Ronnie Barkan

Jewish anti-Zionist israeli dissident

co-founder of Boycott from Within and Anarchists Against the Wall

current member of Palestine Action

participated in a direct action against UK headquarters of israel-based Elbit Systems on Nakba Day 2022. Elbit is israel's #1 arms manufacturer and currently has boots on the ground in Gaza who help to carry out the genocide.

Most recently, Barkan was harassed by the German secret police following his Munich talk at Professor-Huber-Platz, where he connected the legacy of the White Rose who opposed Nazism with direct action in opposition to Zionism.

About the Webinar

Questions for discussion

  • How is the Palestinian struggle against the state of israel portrayed to the outside world? How complicated is that struggle to understand?
  • Can the Zionist national ideology be described as the embodiment of the Jewish faith?
  • Why is the ‘Jewish state’ of israel facing growing dissent within the Jewish communities worldwide?
  • Has the Jewish anti-Zionist movement across the world been an effective tool in the global Palestine solidarity movement?
  • What is the difference between concepts of solidarity and normalisation? Where do we draw the line?
  • How can the collective Palestine solidarity movement grow in impact and influence?
