About Dars Library & Archive:

Dars (‘lesson’ in Arabic) is a lending library and archive centred on Palestinian, SWANA and anti-colonial literature, thought and practice based in Nipaluna/Hobart. Dars exists as an example of a counterspace, a counterarchive. It affirms the need for knowledge bases that are unapologetically political, based in community and resistant to conventional narratives. Dars is directly inspired by the work of Anna Emina – who generously provided the first books that began our growing library/archive – and her work with The Great Book Return in Naarm/Melbourne. Like The Great Book Return, Dars exists in a time where the active genocide of the Palestinian people extends beyond the loss of human life, the occupation of land and the devastation of infrastructure, and includes the active erasure of culture, knowledge and stories. Dars responds directly to this catastrophe by ensuring continued Palestinian existence and resistance, even on a small scale, even a world away. Follow us on Instagram @dars.library

About Forgotten Palestinian Cities:

For nine years, an anonymous Palestinian historian and artist has maintained the memory of the more than 400 Palestinian towns and villages ethnically cleansed during the Nakba. Through their meticulously colourised archival images and gently lyrical, informative texts, Anonymous offers a rare and precious glimpse into pre-Nakba life in Forgotten Palestinian Cities. This debut collection is an immersive and stunning visual record that vividly recalls a not-so-distant past.
